Understanding Board Governance in Child Care Organizations – Top Ten Things Every Board Should Know | September 9, 2021

The Board of Directors is an essential component of your child care organization. The role of the Board is to provide guidance and strategic leadership to the management team. Boards are primarily responsible for overseeing the management of finances, compliance with government regulations, and strategic planning to ensure the ongoing financial viability of the organization. All decisions by the Board should be governed by due diligence, acting honestly, and in the best interests of the centre.
Poor governance practices are serious and can end up harming the organization. Good governance starts with every member of the Board understanding their legal responsibility and role in managing the business affairs of their organization. By providing new and returning Board members with Board training, the organization is providing them with a critical framework that helps them to better understand their roles, strengthen their leadership skills, and reduce the organization’s overall risk of liability. Join us for an interactive session to discuss the top ten things Boards should know about governing a child care from risk management to employment liability and why training and support is critical to the success and sustainability of your organization.
